Hi my name is Jo Copland-Dando, a fully trained Integrated Hypnotherapist using NLP, CBT, psychotherapeutic and coaching skills to explore your concerns and empower you to make changes.

Are you wanting to change an unwanted habit eg. your eating pattern or food craving? Do you have pain or a phobia which is restricting what you can do and where you can go out to, week by week? Or do you find it difficult to manage your negative thoughts about something, which is limiting what you want to achieve in life?

With a backgroung in Nursing, Midwifery and Health visiting, I have a wealth of experience in working with clients and helping you to address the health and well-being issues which are causing challenge. In a safe and confidential environment we can explore how to help you generally feel more positive and skilled in a particular situation.

Struggling with a life transition? New parenthood, children settling at school, teenagers, relationship breakdown, empty nest, ill health or wishing to find a new directions? Lots of challenges throughout life when support to adapt to new circumstances is welcome.

Before we meet we can speak on the phone or by email to discuss any concerns or queries you may have about hypnotherapy and how my sessions can support you.This conversation introduces you to how I work and explores what you want to achieve from our sessions. This is a free initial consultation, so use it to ask what you need. Then you know what to expect and we can establish how we will work together.

On meeting we explore the challenging aspect you wish to change, visualise what you are moving towards, then identify and build the resources which will enable this to happen. I use a variety of NLP techniques to establish a path towards the desired outcome. This involves your commitment but empowers you to take steps, to climb that mountain, and be the best you can be!

Using hypnosis, is a fantastic way of enabling this change to happen quickly but this may be something you need to work towards, so we can make changes at a pace suitable for you.

Hypnosis is a trance like state we enter into several times each day. In accessing this state we can work more effectively on an aspect of health. Being more receptive, in a relaxed state, the subconscious mind can recognise how we are feeling and thinking about an issue. This insight encourages exploration and enhances your resourcefulness, giving you skills to make changes. This will create improvements in how you function and has the added benefit of  giving you a sense of relaxation.

Feeling put upon?

Think people take advantage of your good nature?

Take many things in your stride on a daily basis and then suddenly everything goes pop!!

Maybe you like to think you are easy going and accommodating of other people. Are you kidding yourself?

Is it really that you are not standing up for yourself and setting a boundary?

We all need boundaries to feel safe but also to perform well.

Boundaries:-

– set limits for ourselves and others. 

– are guided by our beliefs and values. 

– help us identify with the ideals and principles we live by. 

– draw a line between what is acceptable for us and what is not. 

These may be different in lifestyle, friendship and living norms. It may relate to habits, hobbies, career choices and leisure time. 

Boundaries need to exist in most aspects of our lives. 

Without them or with blurring of the edges we become anxious, stressed and muddled.

Feeling anxious?


As someone who has struggled with anxious feelings for over 10 years and not being influenced by these thoughts prior to this, I find it frustrating to continue to have to manage both anxious thoughts and feelings from time to time.

 

ARRRGH!! When these feelings present themselves what can I do?

 

I generally find the following help to improve my state:-

-Take the time to look at something beautiful – really notice and enjoy the moment…

-Eat a balanced, healthy diet

-Walk in the countryside and connect with nature

-Keeping active – running, cycling, swimming

-Go to bed at a regular time, avoiding screen time before bed and prioritise sleep

-Connect with people who are aware of  my challenges and empathetic, not dismissive

-Make time for meditation and/ or relaxation

-Socialise with family and friends in a familiar situation

 

However when there are different situations, where these routines and habits are less able to be incorporated into daily life, or extra factors need to be accommodated this can be much more difficult.

Emotional challenges and feeling stressed can exacerbate the anxious feelings, so pacing and planning for time out to adapt and acclimatise to challenges are essential.

My primary tip!

Take time to accept my feelings and not be so hard on myself!

In my profession it is important to know if someone is lying to me or more importantly to themselves. Whether it is a small lie or a malicious lie, everyone lies at some point.
